چکیده

Background: Sleep disturbance and trace elements imbalance are common features in patients with decompensated cirrhosis, partially sharing similar mechanistic contributors linking to adverse outcomes. However, there is a paucity of data concerning their relationship. Objectives: To investigate the association between serum levels sleep quality context cirrhosis. Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: We consecutively enrolled 160 The was determined by Pittsburgh Quality Index (PSQI > 5). Serum [magnesium, calcium, iron, copper (Cu), zinc (Zn), lead, manganese] measured inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry. Association examined analyzed multiple linear (global PSQI scores) multivariate logistic (dichotomized categories) regression models, respectively. Results: In total, 91 (56.88%) represented PSQI-defined disturbance, characterized female preponderance, lower body index levels, higher Cu (all p < 0.05). Looking into its clinical relevance debilitating conditions, we showed that Cu/Zn ratio (CZr) significantly cirrhosis poor (1.77 versus 1.48, = 0.003). Diagnostic performance analysis indicated CZr 1.62 exhibit better discrimination relative respective Cu. Both (β 0.355, 0.001) (odds 2.364, 0.019) identified as an independent risk factor associated disturbance. Conclusion: Our findings implied presence

The status of antioxidants, malondialdehyde and some trace elements in serum of patients with breast cancer

Background: There are studies that indicated dyshomeostasis of oxidant/antioxidant and trace elements in breast cancer patients, but the data regarding the status of these parameters in various stages of breast cancer are limited. The aim of this study was to highlight the status of these biochemical factors in various stages of breast cancer. Methods: Fifty-eight breast cancers patients par...

Association between Serum Vitamin D Levels and Sleep Disturbance in Hemodialysis Patients

Sleep disturbance is a frequent and serious complication of hemodialysis (HD). Low serum vitamin D levels have been associated with sleep quality in non-HD subjects. Our aim was to examine the possible association between serum vitamin D levels and the presence of sleep disturbance in HD patients. We recruited 141 HD patients at the HD center of the First Affiliated Hospital of Jiaxing Universi...

Serum Concentrations of Trace Elements in Patients with Tuberculosis and Its Association with Treatment Outcome

Deficiencies in essential trace elements are associated with impaired immunity in tuberculosis infection. However, the trace element concentrations in the serum of Korean patients with tuberculosis have not yet been investigated. This study aimed to compare the serum trace element concentrations of Korean adult patients with tuberculosis with noninfected controls and to assess the impact of ser...

Improving Survival in Patients with Decompensated Cirrhosis

About 60% of patients with decompensated disease have oesophageal varices. One third of these patients will experience variceal bleed. Each bleeding episode compromises the decompensated state and is associated with a 20% to 30% mortality. Bleeding from ectopic varices is rare but is generally massive and life threatening. The first two articles, " Clin-icopathological features and treatment of...
